Introduction to Praying the Right Prayer in the Eye of the Storm

Praying the Right Prayer in the Eye of the Storm – Part 1

There are so many challenges we face during an epidemic or pandemic. There are numerous questions that go unanswered. Because during these times we hear so many conflicting opinions it’s difficult to find answers and the answers that we find leave us with even more uncertainty.

How I hate that word as it is overused during such times. Uncertainty. Uncertainty isn’t really uncertain. We’re certain that we’ve been impacted and we’re certain that things have changed. There’s no uncertainty there.

At any rate there is one thought I always consider during events and circumstances that are out of my control and in this case anyone’s control. Here’s that thought and the reason for this prayer exercise. “If anyone could do anything about what we’re experiencing, IT WOULD BE DONE ALREADY.” Since no one has an answer, a cure, nor a solution, it leaves us with no other option. This problem can’t be resolved by human hands. So we have no other choice but to seek guidance that isn’t earthly or from mere human-beings.

“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” – bible.com/bible/116/MAT.18.18-20.NLT

From the mouth of Jesus Himself, He gives us instructions on how to bring from Heaven what we need to see on Earth. Is it possible that we’re having the results we have on Earth because: A) we’ve permitted it or B) we’ve not permitted. In either case, it requires us to agree that we have a problem and should ask our Father in Heaven.

[Let’s Pray]
Our Father, help me seek out people I can join in together with, who are willing to admit the problem we’re facing isn’t being resolved by human-hands and together we ask You to do something about it.

I know what you might be thinking because I thought the same thing. I’ve been asking God to remove this pandemic. The problem with this is two fold:

  1. What if this storm we’re experiencing is His doing? Why would He remove it?
  2. What if my prayer is for something that’s not a problem? Hmm.

Allow me to explain both as we continue this prayer exercise.
