When You Don’t Have A Clue

What Normal People Don’t Want You To Know About The Holy Ghost – Part 4

What do you do when you realize you have no clue?

It’s hard for you (I) to swallow the thought that there might come a time in our lives that we just don’t have a clue.  How can this be with all our infinite wisdom? Some of you reading this now are experiencing a moment just like this; you thought you had a handle on life, but now realize you totally missed it. I’ve found out this is “common” and since it is that means the majority (51% or better) don’t have a clue either.

When I graduated college, I thought I had all the learning I’d ever need and I made this promise.  I promise that I will never step foot into another classroom as long as I live! I was so glad it was complete, so at least I thought.  That’s a promise that only idiots make or is that just a “common” promise?

I hate to burst your bubble, but you’re headed back to the classroom whether you want too or not.  You’ve been taught something that’s not the truth and to navigate life you’ll need the truth. You see, had you been taught truth from the start you’d never find yourself in a position where life throws you off your feet and you struggle to deal with it.

“Normal” people really are know-nothings.
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” – bible.com/116/jhn.14.26.nlt

Why in the world would God have to send someone to teach us?  What does it mean if God has a plan in place to send us a teacher?  What does that say about us, the “normal” person to whom the Bible is written?  What is He planning to teach us? The answer is “All things.” I bet in the Greek that means everything and any thing, but nothing excluded.  If this is the case (and it is), that would mean we start out knowing no thing (nothing). Without the influences of God’s spirit we are know-nothings!
To drive this point home, I’ll name just a few areas in which we’re know-nothings without His influence:

  • You know-nothing about how to have the best personal life, what education you need, or how to create the home He wants for you.
  • You know-nothing when it relates to what job to take, your next career steps or what business to create.
  • You know-nothing when it comes to what church to attend or your role in the capital ‘C’ – Church.
  • You know-nothing as it relates to what impact you’re to have in society, government and your environment.
  • You know-nothing regarding how to build, maintain, or even establish lasting relationships.

The Common Asks The Wrong People For Help
But you have received the Holy Spirit [God’s Spirit], and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit [God’s Spirit] teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”

Relying on a person to teach what’s “true” is like having someone who’s never seen a car teach us how to drive one.  In other words, we find ourselves relying on “normal” people to show us how to live when they themselves don’t. To add to this, we trust those who we think should know to teach us all about life just because they’re in our lives.  Our base for truth could be off without us even knowing and this is “common.”

The reason you need help from God’s Spirit is because He’s the only one qualified and commissioned to teach you what’s true.  You’ve heard it said and if you haven’t I’ll say it, “if you lack wisdom, ask God.” It does not say ask your momma, or your daddy, nor your friends or your play-cousin, neither does it say ask your best friend or read a book or magazine.  The Bible (the uncommon guide for life) says ask God. You’ve been asking the wrong person. What you really need is God’s Spirit.

Just when you thought class was over, God has a plan to put you back in the classroom, but this time it’s His classroom.
