How Your Life is Like the Lottery

You’ll never win the lottery without participating.
Most everyone understands how a lottery works. You know, you purchase a ticket which gives you an opportunity to win a large prize. You are thrown into a pool amongst many others who have the same opportunity you have to win the same prize.  If your number is chosen then you’re the winner.  The downside to it is, if you don’t purchase the lottery ticket then you have zero chance of winning the prize.  In fact, you’ll never win the lottery without participating.

Every day you have opportunities.
I want to parallel the lottery to your life; life is like the lottery.   Every day we have opportunities that are presented to us whether we recognize them or not.  Our daily opportunities have far greater odds than the lottery, because most of them have only one person or fewer people participating.  In order to win the prize that comes with these opportunities, we must do something.  We must participate.  We must be prepared for the opportunities.  The only people who can win the prize of these daily opportunities are those who are prepared and participate.

Opportunities pass when you’re not prepared.
I use to think that when you’re prepared, opportunity comes. However, I have discovered this isn’t always true. Opportunities come every single day.  We’re just not prepared to take advantage of the opportunities and as a result the opportunities pass us by.   When you’re not prepared for the opportunity it passes you by and is now a target for someone who is.  No-longer-common is being prepared–buying the ticket–for the lottery–opportunity–that awaits you each day.  Your life is like the lottery with the best odds possible, have you purchased your ticket today?

Question: What opportunities are passing you by today because you’re not prepared?  Leave a comment.
