The Holy One – Part 3

What Happens When I Anger The Holy One?

You can always find something new about God when you read scripture.  The interesting thing is it’s usually contradictory to what popular society thinks of Him.  You’d believe that because of your sin, which simply means the things that go against what the Bible says you should do, that God writes you off.  He wants nothing to do with you and will cause unfavorable things to happen to you. Your first thought is that when you tick Him off, make Him angry or aggravated, He’ll write you off.   Well, I have news for you. That’s ordinary thinking and The Holy One messes up “normal” thinking.

As their God, I am still alive and well, committed to them even though They filled their land with sin against Israel’s most Holy God.” – bible.com/97/jer.51.1-5.msg

“Even though their land was [your life is] filled with sin”
Regardless of what you’ve been taught or even what your church says, “though your life is filled with sin” against God, He has not abandoned you and He remains your God, alive, active and committed to even you.  It’s actions like this that makes God contradict what’s normal. That’s what makes Him uncommon, what the Bible calls “Holy”.

He is “the Holy One [Unlike Anyone] of Israel”
The Bible says that He is the “Holy” One of Israel.  He’s called “Holy” in this regard because there is no other God or person who would not abandon you or remain with you when you sin against them.  What person would remain faithful to you when you’re unfaithful to them? Only a person inspired by someone with such characteristics – The Holy One.  He’s with you even when you do Him wrong. He’s committed even when your folks turn their backs on you. He’s on your side even when your friends abandon you.  He is “Holy”, unlike anything or anyone you can imagine.

Now you, like I, have to admit, this is unheard of.  Spread the news to your friends, what you thought about God abandoning you because of wrong actions, just isn’t the case.  What now are your going to do with this new found truth? I hate to say I told you so, but “holy is not what you think!”
