Making the Best of My Tax Refund

There are a couple things one should define before ever getting a tax refund in hand:
1) The plan for what they need to do with it.
2) A list of actions one should not take when the money’s in hand.

Listen to this and we will pray.

Just as the rich [uncommon] rule the poor, so the borrower [the common] is servant to the lender. – bible.com/bible/116/PRO.22.7.NLT

There are two sets of people listed in this Proverb:
1) The rich and the poor
2) The borrower and the lender

That leaves me with one question from each set: who do you desire to be? BTW – in each set there’s a common category and an uncommon category. Allow me to list them for you.

Common: the poor and the borrower.
Uncommon: the rich and the lender

Therefore when we look at our money, our finances and specifically our refund check, we need to view it from the uncommon categories. Are you ready to pray? Let’s do it.

Lord,
Help me to no longer think like the poor and unlike a servant. Help me transform my thinking into that of the rich and of the lender. How I’ve viewed my resources has shaped the life I’ve been living and as a result has impacts on my family. Today, I alter my course by having a renewed mindset about how I handle my resources, specifically my tax refund. I behave like the rich and like the lender, in Jesus’ name.
