When My Holiday Is Threatened?

There are things that happen in life that threaten how we do life, specifically how we celebrate holidays. Let me name the seven major life events that threaten or reshape how we do life.
1. Graduating – when we or someone we know graduates from something.
2. Moving or relocating.
3. Starting a new job, losing a job, starting a business, or losing a business.
4. Marriage or divorce.
5. Purchasing a home or losing a home.
6. Adding a person to your family or losing a person in the family.
7. Experiencing a catastrophe (i.e. act of nature, pandemic, drought, or famine)

When any one of these occur, a holiday or special day will forever be altered. So how do we cope or get beyond this when our world shifts in this way?

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

It’s said that God does new things. In fact we are in the midst of God doing something new everyday. If God does something new, how do you see this new thing? Do you see what God is doing as positive or negative? If you see it as negative then you have a bigger problem than the situation you find yourself in.

[Pray This]
Lord, I get comfortable with this new thing You’re doing in my life. Because it’s something You are doing I know we are coming out better than we went in. Help me reinvent this special day, in Jesus’ name.

Your Action (What action based on your prayer can you take?):
Ask yourself and answer this question. What has this event that threatens how we do this holiday make available for me to change?
