We have what I call the thirty-thousand-foot (unanswered) prayers. Have you ever had such a big problem with no answer in sight that the only solution is prayer? It’s like when the people of Israel (led by Moses) found themselves with the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army threatening behind them. Either way, they had a big problem no matter which way they turned. Or maybe like Israel your situation seems so impossible to happen that even God can’t help?

“When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.” – ‭‭Nehemiah

That’s what we call a thirty-thousand-foot prayer. It’s so big, it’s inconceivable to see a way out. However, I assure you there is a way out and there is nothing impossible with God. Stay with me through this series and you’ll see for yourself as we examine the prayer Nehemiah prayed. Here’s what you can expect over the next few installments.

The Making of a Bad Situation
So, the problem has reached you. Some problems remain far away, therefore it’s okay to pray a 30-thousand-foot prayer and not expect an answer. When big problems don’t impact you there’s no urgency to do anything, even pray. But when the situation comes into your home, what then? Not only will you pray, you want others to pray and get involved. What happens when no one moves to aid in the problem you face? This is the making of your bad situation.
The Blow from Your Bad News
You ever have such bad news that it knocks you off your feet. At that moment nothing else in the world seems to matter. This news has stopped everything in your world. What’s the impact of such bad news? You ask why me Lord? These are all emotions and feelings that come when the news breaks of a thirty-thousand-foot prayer problem. It’s bigger than life itself.
The Actual Thirty-Thousand-Foot Prayer
So you’ve prayed and nothing’s happened. You’ve prayed night and day with no signs of an answer. The Heavens haven’t opened up, neither has God come down to give you some hope. You’ve not seen any signs to indicate whether this was just a dream or your imagination. The problem is real and ever present. Since my prayer isn’t working let me remind God of some things as if He doesn’t know. When all else fails let me tell God about Himself, as if I know who and what God is. A normal thirty-thousand-foot prayer will always be positioned with us asking God to do something and never asking God what we might do in the situation.
Get Real and Start Thinking Illogically
Let’s get real and start thinking illogically, not like the ordinary. Ordinary is not enough when it comes to your problem. In fact, it’s normal, ordinary, natural that brought the situation upon you in the first place. So let’s take a new not common, but illogical approach since it’s in my court. All the normal signs say it’s not possible so we can stop looking at conventional methods. It’s going to take something different.
The Task is Big and I’m Small
You might think what you do has little significance and maybe that’s true, but that’s about to change. It all changes when you handle your thirty-thousand-foot prayer in an uncommon way. Your thirty-thousand-foot prayer problem is the doorway waiting to take you from where you were to something much greater.

Are you sure you’re ready for this? We’ve not yet heated up the engines on this message. Your life and the way you view prayer is about to shift again. We’re about to pray a “dangerous” prayer. Not. There’s only one dangerous prayer and that’s the one you’ve not prayed. Or it’s the one you’ve walked away from.
