Does the hedge of protection really exist?

I am sure you have heard of the phrase “hedge of protection .” In most churches, it’s one of the most common prayers to make. “God place a hedge of protection around us.” The only true reference I’ve been able to find in the bible is the hedge that was around Job, his possessions and his family; just maybe this is where the hedge of protection prayer derived.

“Hast not thou made an hedge about him , and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.” (Job 1:8 KJV)

Although, “hedge of protection” might not be in the scriptures, shield of favor and love are and make for an even greater prayer. Think about it, God surrounding you with favor and love. What does that mean? What does that look like?

“For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12 NIV)

Favor is the empowerment of God that makes people like you, love you, and treat you well.

With that said, I have decided to make this a part of my daily prayer for me and my family. “Lord, surround us with your love and favor like a shield -a barrier.”
