Being No-Longer-Common 101 Part 5

C O M E

Jesus sees you. He sees in you the very thing that you can no longer see in yourself. He sees all your positive characteristics. “Common” will take the unique gift, skill, trade or talent you have and make it invisible to the one who needs it most-you.

“Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”” – Mark‬ 1:17 NLT‬‬

Come

Jesus looks out over the sea and saw a small group of guys doing what they’d been taught to do. In the same way, He sees you and your partners doing what it is you’ve been taught to do.

You see you’ve been waiting for a new gift because the one you have has become invisible, commonplace and overlooked. You’re waiting on a new and improved talent, trade, or vocation before you jump out of the boat you’re in. Well I want to tell you this, you will never get that new talent waiting in the same boat.

He-Jesus-says, “come” a simple 4 letter word- C O M E.

He didn’t give them time to clean up.
He didn’t give them a set of rules and requires about how to come.

He’s not going to give you time to take a class.
He’s not going to give you a set of rules or requirements for you to come.
He’s not going to wait for you to change your attitude or get your life together.

He simply says, come.

Now, what are you waiting on… If you’re waiting, that means you’ve allowed “common” to set in. These men didn’t wait. They got out of the boat. They let go of their ordinary way of life because they knew what an ordinary life’s end produced. By making the decision to get out of their average existence, they took a risk. They took a risk to gain something that staying in the boat would never afford them. They took a risk on something greater that would never present itself as long as they stayed in the boat. Here you are, in your boat-your circumstance, current employment, bad lifestyle or unaccomplished dreams. Jesus, the Messiah is saying to you today… C O M E. Step out of your boat.

“Normal” says don’t believe Jesus, when He says come. Society says you have to get cleaned up first.
“Ordinary” says you’re not qualified for that new job or position. Your co-workers say you’re out of your mind for applying for the promotion.
Jesus, who is not common, normal or ordinary, says “come”.

“Come” and allow Me to take the very person no one wanted and make them the person everyone wants. “Come” and leave your normal existence to have an uncommon existence. “Come” and change a normal marriage into a marriage that lasts a lifetime. “Come” and make your life that’s like everyone else’s, a life like no one else’s.
