What Happens When You Put God Back in the Equation?

Years ago, I worked with a woman who used a phrase that stuck with me.

She called it the God factor.

What she meant was simple: whatever you’re looking at, don’t leave God out of the equation.

That thought came back to me during our conversation about creation and evolution because the majority of people are constantly trying to understand life while removing God from the explanation. Then we wonder why the explanation feels incomplete.

What happens if we put Him back in?

Put God Back Into the Conversation

Look at science and add the God factor.

Look at nature and add the God factor.

Look at technology and add the God factor.

Look at your work, your abilities, your purpose, and the things humanity continues discovering and ask yourself: What changes if God is part of this?

For me, everything changes.

Science no longer has to compete with faith. Technology doesn’t have to compete with God. Human progress doesn’t diminish the Creator. It can actually show us more of what He made possible.

Take something as simple as satellites. Human beings developed technology sophisticated enough to put satellites in space, allowing us to communicate around the world almost instantly.

That’s science.

That’s engineering.

That’s innovation.

Now add the God factor.

The same technology can carry the Gospel around the world. We can teach Scripture to someone thousands of miles away. We can show people images of creation they may never physically visit. We can literally take the church beyond the walls of a building because technology allows us to reach people almost anywhere.

It all fits together when we stop trying to separate everything.

Faith Should Make You Think Bigger

Sometimes people treat faith as though it means shutting down your ability to think.

I believe the opposite.

Faith should expand your thinking.

I’ve always loved innovators who could see something before everyone else could see it. Steve Jobs talked about putting a thousand songs in your pocket before most people could imagine what that would actually look like.

At some point, someone had to believe something was possible before there was physical evidence sitting in front of them.

That sounds a lot like faith to me.

Visionaries see beyond what currently exists. Scientists search for answers they don’t yet possess. Inventors attempt things that haven’t yet been done.

The difference for me is that I know where I ultimately place my faith.

Your Life Has a God Factor Too

This lesson isn’t only about science.

Put the God factor on your life.

Put it on your career.

Put it on your relationships.

Put it on your ideas.

Put it on your gifts.

Most people make decisions based only on what they can see, what they know, and what appears possible right now. But what if God has information you don’t have? What if He can see possibilities you cannot yet see?

That’s where uncommon faith begins.

You stop limiting your future to the evidence sitting in front of you.

Common vs. Uncommon

Common: Builds conclusions without considering God.
Uncommon: Adds the God factor.

Average: Limits possibility to what already exists.
Exceptional: Believes something greater may still be possible.

Typical: Needs to see before believing.
Intentional: Understands that belief often comes before visible results.

The Uncommon Truth

Adding God to the equation doesn’t require you to know less.

It gives you more to explore.

The more I learn about creation, technology, people, purpose, and the world around me, the more questions I have—and I don’t think that’s a problem.

Questions make me search.

Searching makes me grow.

And growth gives me another opportunity to see God in places I might have overlooked before.

Most people remove God when they don’t understand something. Uncommon people add Him—and discover the picture gets bigger.
