The Divorce Is Over and I’m Unsure of Who I Am and What to Do

The divorce papers have been filed and processed yet it seems like this whole ordeal is just beginning. I don’t know who I am or what I should be doing. My entire world has been destroyed and taken from me.

There is a famous Bible verse that says “When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.1 When this verse came to mind, I had no idea how it would apply to this prayer scenario. So let me explain. You see there comes a time in your life where things change and can never be undone. It’s like the saying, you cannot unring the bell. When a person goes from a child to an adult that person can never return to being a child. It’s just not how life works. In the same way, when a family experiences the war of divorce that creates a blended family, the effects can not be undone. Instead, like the child who becomes an adult, there’s only one thing that can be done, put away the childish stuff. Put away the former things for the new life you have. It’s time to make the best of being an adult or in this case a person who’s family has been made new.

[Pray This]
Father, like a child that’s become an adult must put away childish things, help me to put away the former things I’m trying to hold on to as I step into my new word, in Jesus’ name.

Your Action (What action based on your prayer can you take?):
You must always ask the question what must I do? In this case, you need to begin identifying what’s in the old world you’ve held on to, so that you can leave those things behind for the new things God has in store for you. Jot them down if you have to and even have a symbolic burial for them if necessary. At any rate, make the change and make it now.
