Not Worthy to Pray in Your Mess

Oftentimes a person can feel like they are unworthy to speak to God because they are in the middle of their mess (a.k.a. sin). This may have come from a notion that was driven into their belief system that God doesn’t hear or respond to people who’ve messed up. There can be a number of reasons for such thinking. At any rate, we can find ourselves here and what can we do?

“Cain replied to the LORD, “My punishment is too great for me to bear! You have banished me from the land and from your presence; you have made me a homeless wanderer. Anyone who finds me will kill me!” The LORD replied, “No, for I will give a sevenfold punishment to anyone who kills you.”

I reference this passage to illustrate that Cain, you know the story, the one who killed his brother Abel, in his mess (a.k.a sin) was able to hold a conversation with God. In other words, he prayed (based upon our common definition that prayer is talking to God). If Cain could talk to God in His mess then so can you in yours.

[Pray This]
Lord, I might be in a mess and deserve the punishment and consequences of my choices, but it’s good to know that You still hear my voice. Therefore I will continue having conversations with You no matter what. In Jesus’ name.

Your Action:
(What action based on your prayer can you take?)

I no longer allow what I think about myself to keep me from talking to Him.
