The Wrong Image of Prayer

If prayer works, then why do we not pray more. No matter who you ask, especially Christian believers, the consensus is prayer works. If prayer indeed does work, we must ask why don’t we use this gift, tool, skill, more? There must be a disconnect here. There is no way one would not pray if prayer works. We’d pray for everything and anything. The only conclusion that could leave us with is we have a wrong image or understanding about prayer.

“I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”
-bible.com/bible/116/MRK.11.24.NLT

Listen to these words, “you can pray for anything”, nothing is excluded from the list of what one and pray for. Yet and still, it works and we don’t use it for anything, everything. We must change this image and put it to the test.

[Pray This]
Lord, if You would, help me overcome the disconnect I have as it relates to prayer. I believe prayer works yet I don’t pray. Teach me how to pray for anything and everything in Jesus’ name.

Your Action (What action based on your prayer can you take?):
I will seek to find and gain a better understanding of prayer, using what I’ve seen demonstrated around me and adding what God has to say about it.
