The Guide You Wish You Had
What Normal People Don’t Want You To Know About The Holy Ghost – Part 5
How the Uncommon Live Directed Lives?
Have you ever found yourself headed in the wrong direction? How do you know if you’re going the right way?
In our lives we’re faced with many big choices and many times we have no idea (we’re know-nothings) which way to turn.
- In our home, we’re vacillating on making a car purchase.
- In school, we’re contemplating which major to study or which college to attend.
- In our career, we’re wondering if it’s time to pursue a different job or opportunity.
- In our relationship, we’re deciding whether to take the relationship to the next level.
- In our social interactions, we ponder over which side we’re on or which stand we should take on current events.
- In our spiritual matters, we debate whether we’re doing what’s right.
If only we had a guide in this thing called “life.” Wait a minute, we do! The majority (51% or better) don’t feel this way. Ordinary people don’t have a guide, but uncommon people do. I’ll expound a bit.
Not forced, but guided.
God’s Spirit is our guide. It’s tempting to believe what everyone else does. God’s Spirit isn’t this mysterious being that causes us to behave as if we’re possessed of an evil force. Let me restate it, He guides us. He doesn’t force Himself on us or into a situation. Check this out.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he [this uncommon spirit] will guide you into all truth [the way of uncommon people]. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.” – bible.com/116/jhn.16.13.nlt
“[G]uided you into all truth.”
Since He guides us, then we need to ask a couple questions. Where is He guiding us and how is He guiding us?
Uncommon people have a guide.
Where is He guiding us?
Or better started where will we end up if we allow Him to direct us? “Into all truth.” This means we’re normally headed towards what isn’t true or truth. I can see that. Without His guidance we’re headed down paths that lead to death, decay, and turbulence. He leads us away from this turbulence. He guides us clear of decay. It’s His goal to lead us towards “life” and not “death.”
The uncommon have an invisible angel giving them over-the-shoulder-advice.
How will He guide us?
“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.” – bible.com/116/isa.30.21.nlt
You’ve seen the cartoons where the main character has an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other shoulder with both giving him advice on what to do? That’s exactly what God’s Spirit does for us. I don’t know if the devil gets to talk to you from this vantage point or not, but I’m certain God’s Spirit does. I believe the devil doesn’t have to speak to you this ways because the things we find “normal” already have the devil’s influence. However, God’s Spirit sits close enough to us so that when turbulence, death, or decay (what occurs normally) is near, He prompts us of a better path.
You thought you had no guide and that’s what the average person would think. If you’re doing life on your own, it’s normal and so are the results you get when it’s done alone. I invite you to put average, ordinary, and normal behind you so that you can experience life with a guide that steers you clear of life’s turbulence, life’s decay, and life’s deaths.
