Find Yourself Hating Change?

If you find yourself hating change or that changes occur, this prayer exercise is for you. The normal response a person can have is to dislike change. That’s a good indication as to why you should seek a different response. Most (50% or better) do their best to avoid change. Could it be that you don’t totally understand change? Or could you possibly have an incomplete message or philosophy regarding change. Really quickly, there are two types of change: the change that is forced on you and the change you make for yourself. Let’s take a look at how Jesus presents it. At least we can trust His thoughts.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way [change your ways], take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life [avoid the change], you will lose it. But if you give up your life [make the necessary changes] for my sake, you will save it.

Could it be that your life whether you “save it” or “lose it” is all based on how you look at change? If that’s the case (and it is) and you hate change, then you need to alter this attitude because this attitude towards change has produced and will continue to produce a life that’s slipping away from you. In other words, you’re losing your life.

[Pray This]
Lord, I want to be your student and that takes an attitude of not only accepting change, but being my own agent for change in my life. I stop avoiding what’s going to happen anyway and begin to apply the changes that will lead me to saving the one thing that I can, my life, in Jesus’ name.

Your Action
(What action based on your prayer can you take?):

Here’s what I think I can do with this. I make one change today that can impact my life for the better. So that I can begin a habit of making change in my life a regular practice.
