When You Treat Your Spouse Like Anyone Else
Have you ever given any thought to what happens when you treat your spouse like family, a neighbor, your student, a friend, one of your inner circle friends, or even your best friend? I can tell you this, most (51% or more all people) may not ever see a problem with this. What it says is that we’ve misplaced the one we’ve called our spouse within the seven levels of relationships.
“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.” – bible.com/bible/116/1CO.12.12.NLT
Prayer Condition:
Wouldn’t you agree that like the parts of the body, your spouse is a part of your life? But would you say that your spouse is just like other body parts? No, your spouse is unique. So why then would we place our spouse in a category that can be held by other people in our lives? I know why because we’ve allowed some “normal” thinking to take root and you know what that leads to, normal results. With that said let’s pray…
The Prayer:
[Pray This] Lord, Forgive me for making my spouse a part of the body that another person can occupy. My spouse means more to me than this. Help me to see my spouse as my equal partner. The person who’s in business with me making our lives our business, in Jesus’s name.
Your Action:
(What action based on your prayer can you take?)
Today, I take this moment to evaluate my relationship levels, specifically level six, my equal partner. I define and redefine the other six levels so that I’m not mistreating my spouse.
