Level 15 – Love That Doesn’t Know How to Quit
The 16 Levels of Love – Part 16
What should I do when I feel like giving up; on the relationship if you know what I mean? What if I feel like it’s not going to work out? It’s definitely not going in a good direction.
There will be times you feel like giving up on a relationship. There will be times where quitting seems like the best solution. However, the real question is, what does this mean for “love”? It doesn’t sound very loving to quit or give up.
Because I’m gifted in teaching how to see the other side to what’s normal, we need to look at this, oh so, “common” feeling from a different perspective. If this is how normal people feel, what would the uncommon do? Let’s define “love” [level-15] to see. Level-fifteen love always adjusts to the situation.
Love always perseveres; it never gives up. It never looks back.
The word to define here is perseveres. What does it really mean to persevere?
Persevere: continue when it’s difficult, continue even when it seems like it’s a losing situation.
Because human-beings have this underlying drive to win, this level-15 love isn’t common. BTW – “love” if you’ve not learned by now isn’t “common”. It’s rarely experienced. Level 15 says that you must continue even if it means you will lose. Normal people will give up first before they continue to head towards what looks like defeat.
Love always perseveres
“Always”. Love always perseveres. There’s no question about it. To love means you always persevere. Love isn’t just for the good time; you don’t need love for that. It’s for these bad times. You don’t show any signs that you will give in or up. You fight and you keep fighting. That’s level-15 love.
It never gives up.
To love is to make the decision that you never give up. There is no reason to quit. What could it be like to have someone by your side that never gives up on you. Name a scenario that most would normally toss in the towel and say to yourself, even if this occurs, I will not give up. Level-15 love says that no matter what happens, I will never give up.
It never looks back.
This is my favorite. I don’t know very many people who don’t look back. You know bring up the past as if it’s the future. Love doesn’t look at what happened in the past. It doesn’t matter whether the past was good or bad. You don’t look back. What’s interesting is usually when we look to the past in relationships we play the negative highlight reel. What happened to all the positives? We allow one bad situation to destroy all the good ones.
Looking forward is what love causes us to do. Look forward to what? Try looking forward to what you once shared. Try looking forward to the next great memory. Try looking forward to the day this bad situation is a distant memory. Try looking forward to the company of the one you say you love. Level-15 love always adjusts to the situation with perseverance.
Level-fifteen’s Opposite
What’s the opposites of level 15 love: stop persevering, give up, quit, look back.
Now for a few example statements:
- Do you persevere until you get the right response?
- Do you give up upon the first failure?
- Can you sustain long-term relationships?
- Can you see it [whatever it might be] through to completion?
- Are you wavering at the first sign of turbulence?
- Are you reacting to the negative situation in the way it should be handled?
Having Level-Fifteen Love
Common: Everyone has that point where enough is enough. Let’s call it the quitting-point.
Are you at your quitting point? Ordinary people would say that’s normal. Just let it go. The problem with that is, if it were that easy then you’d not need anyone’s counsel to do it. This is the 1st indicator that quitting isn’t the only answer. It just might be the easiest; the one keeping you from uncommon.
Uncommon: Ordinary people stop at the point-of-no-return, but the uncommon will cross that point every time.
For the uncommon there is no return, when they started the journey [love], they’d already crossed the point-of-no-return. I would go on with point, but I think it can stand on it’s on. Level-15 love says I’ve already crossed the point-of-no-return.
Are you excited yet? I am, so it’s time to insert Your Name in this phrase.
<Your name> will never look back nor turn back. <Your name> has already crossed the point-of-no-return.
