Communicating with God
No Longer Common in Scripture
“Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.
Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.
Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.”

Has your spirit taken over your being?
Last week marks the conclusion of our 21-day “fasting” exercise. We “fast” because we want to strengthen our connection with God and let our spirits take over our bodies and our minds. Now that your body and mind has weakened, you can communicate with God without the distractions of the world that would usually take over.
“Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me!”
Call out to the Lord and get His attention.
“My heart has heard You say, ‘Come and talk with me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’”
In our moment of silence, this is when we know that God is just waiting for us to speak. He is always ready to hear us out and communicate with us.
Start pouring it all out to God. Your worries. Your fears. Your dreams. Your hopes. Yes, God knows exactly what is in your heart, but this does not mean that there is no need to tell Him. Telling Him is not for Him to know; it is for us to pour everything out and rid ourselves of the baggage that all of these bring.
“Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.”
Only the Lord can give you the kind of comfort that never fails, never gives up, never runs out.
“Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.”
After this fasting period, the strength of your body and mind will now be renewed and they have the power to once again take over and weaken your connection with God. Hold the connection that you currently have and sustain it. This will allow God’s voice to take over and lead you towards the right path, no matter how much your body and your mind will coerce you to go against it.
“Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.”
The Lord is a good God. No matter what you have been told, God is not an angry God. He is slow to anger, and you have the chance to witness His goodness if you follow the path that He has prepared for you.
iPray Everyday
Thank You Lord for hearing me out in my prayers. Now I know that in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and in health, in strength and in suffering, only You can bring me the peace that I need.
The above scripture quotes are taken from Psalms 27:7-8, 10-11, 13 NLT.
