Gifted and Don’t Know It

This Gift I Have The World Didn’t Give It To Me – Part 1

I can’t really say “spiritual gifts” because I’ll lose my audience.  I can’t say gifts given by the spirit because you’ll take that to mean something that I’m not trying to convey.  So, that brings me to having only one alternative. I need to dispel a couple of myths.

Myth 1: The Holy Spirit will possess you and make you do strange things.
When the Holy Spirit (or Spirit) comes on you, He does not take over your body to get you to do strange things.  That’s not supported by the only book, The Bible, that describes Him.

Myth 2: A spiritual gift is limited to speaking in an unknown language.
While I love this one, it’s just not the truth.  A spiritual gift is nothing more than a gift that makes you different than the person next to you.  It’s a gift that makes you uncommon.

Your special abilities misunderstood
You have a gifting and you might not know it.

“Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives [to make] us [uncommon]. I don’t want you to misunderstand this.” – bible.com/116/1co.12.1.nlt

Culture misunderstands that you’ve been given special abilities.  You see culture, those close to you, want you to believe that there is nothing special about you.  That’s what normal people do. They will minimize what you’re capable of doing so that your potential will never be realized or achieved.

You have been given some special abilities that only you have.  The problem is normal thinking has downplayed you. I want to bring them back to the forefront for you.  What is it you know you’re good at? What’s that thing no one can take from you and can compete with you?

Different gifts coming from one source
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts [skills, talents, abilities, that make you uncommon], but the same Spirit is the source of them all.” – bible.com/116/1co.12.4.nlt

You’re special because The Source that made you is special.  You’ve been given something that no one else has and it came from the same source that made everyone else special in the same way.  Let me say it this way, you might not be a gifted singer, but the talent you do possess is no less glamorous than that one who can sing.  The difference is, that singer has managed to use their gift in a way that others benefit and you haven’t. When you allow enough people to benefit from your gift, you’re just as impacting as that famous singer.

The same Spirit who empowered one empowers us all. You have a gift now use it to benefit others with all the energy that you can.

The gift is for others.
“A spiritual gift [your unique talent, skill, or ability] is given to each of us so we can help each other.” – bible.com/116/1co.12.7.nlt

The key thing to note is that the gift’s purpose is for others.  In fact, let me talk to the Christians for a moment, if you’re not using your gifts and impacting others, you’re failing as a follower of Christ.  He’s given you (us) a gift and its purpose for you having it is to help others. Your gift isn’t to hold on to for yourself. It’s not to hide or even be ashamed of.  That gift, whatever it may be, is given to you for one reason and one reason only, to help those you know and can touch, your world.

You’re gifted like the best of them so touch as many people as you possibly can.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this 1st installment of “This Gift I Have The World Didn’t Give It To Me”.  Please share it on social media with all your friends.
