Barrier 4 – Living The Wrong Life

What’s Standing in Your Way? – Part 5

Could it be that you’re living life the wrong way?  Do you know if you’re headed in the direction for where you need to be or go?

In this installment, it’s our goal to help you determine whether or not you’re heading in the right direction for your life.  The majority of us are not, because heading in the wrong direction for your life (or no direction at all) is normal.

Unconscious of what it means to live right.
The Bible, my favorite book for “uncommon” leadership practices”, uses a term called “righteously” or “righteousness”.  We assume that it means to live “right” as if there is but one way to live life and all the other ways are incorrect. Or we assume this to mean an action to point out everything we do wrong.  At least this is the “common” assumption.

The truth is you apply righteousness to your life so that what you have to offer is then made right for you.  In other words, how can we make who you are with using your gifts, talents, and skills, right?

Controlled by nature.
“But you are not controlled by your sinful nature [what comes naturally]. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God [the spirit that makes you unlike anyone else] living in you.” – bible.com/116/rom.8.9.nlt

Popular thinking and society wants you to believe that you’re nothing more than an animal or at the least, try to compare you to being animal-like.  They reference your animal-like instincts. And without any uncommon intervention, all humans are controlled by nature, their natural instincts. That’s normal.  Don’t let anyone limit you to living a life that falls short of greatness because they want you to live the life of a normal person. You’re not an animal; you’re much more.  Normal’s not for you!

The problem here is this, human beings possess one thing that all other creatures don’t and that’s a spirit.  In order to live unlike everyone else, you need to interact with something that’s not natural. You need spirit for this.  Take a look at the greatest athletes or the leaders in any field, you’ll soon find out they aren’t made any differently; they just have a unique spirit.  They’ve gone beyond what’s natural and it’s this that places them on the “right” path for living.

Course shifting.
What if I were to tell you that when you give up living like a normal person, your course, no matter what you decide to do, will shift in your favor?

“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.” – bible.com/116/isa.30.21.nlt

Regardless of what you do, your course will shift to the best outcome for your life, if you’re uncommon.  You can turn left, right, and even upside-down and your life finds its way toward success.
You can choose a career that seems like it doesn’t fit.
You may work a job that seems like a dead end.
You might find yourself at a church that your friends can’t understand.
You could end up choosing to serve the wrong political party.
You might find yourself in a bad relationship.
No matter which way you go and what life throws at you, your course will begin to shift and auto-correct when you’re uncommon.  Otherwise you’d simply have normal results that lead to failure in every area of your life. Befriend an uncommon person and check out their story for yourself if you don’t believe it.

The H.S. (Holy Spirit) empowers you to live a life that’s always heading in the right direction for you, your life.  That’s what righteousness does. Don’t let living “the wrong” life be the barrier that’s standing in your way to living a “right” life.
